Welcome to the
Loo Movement
Blog
Here you will find tips and tricks to support your overall well-being and vitality!

Loo Movement Has Been a Total Game-Changer!
I loved hearing this from a student, Kat—it sums up so much of what I hope people feel after working with me. My goal isn’t just to help you feel better in the moment, but to give you the tools to understand your body and take care of it long-term. It means so much to hear how this work is helping Kat stay out of pain and feel more confident in her own movement.

How washing your back can improve vitality
Hi Friends, Loo Movement students know that the practice doesn't end once you leave the studio. We can weave Counter-shapes into everyday movements to improve joint mobility, strength, posture and overall well-being. Integrating Counter-shapes into your daily life will also reduce pain, improve body alignment, and help you avoid future injuries! This recent article from Livestrong.com highlights a perfect example: washing your back in the shower.

End of Year Celebrations
Hi Friends, As we approach the close of 2024, I've been reflecting on the incredible progress and dedication I've seen from each of you this year. The “Prehab” mindset of Loo Movement truly shines through—what you put in, you get back, and I’ve been so inspired and proud to watch you all grow in your body awareness, effective alignment, mobility, and strength. I’d love to share a few highlights that I think will inspire us all as we move into the new year!

How to unlock your body’s secrets 👀
I came across this article from Total Somatics that put words to where my intuition often brings me. Anyone who has worked with me, whether 1:1 or in class, knows that we begin by dropping into a state of “Embodied Awareness”-- tuned-in, present, and grounded. If you have experience with meditation, yoga, Qigong/tai chi, or are a longtime Loo Movement student, then you are familiar with this state of consciousness and already know how to access it. Our busy modern culture can make it difficult for us (myself included) to pay attention to our bodies. While it may feel subtle, this preparatory mind-body step is one of the most essential parts of The Loo Movement Method. Why? Well, it allows us to sense and feel more, and slow down enough to better listen to our bodies.

Loo Movement Reformer Pilates Turns One!
We hit another Loo Movement milestone: Reformer Pilates class turns one year old this month! It all started during the pandemic when I had the idea to expand my offerings to include more small group classes. I consistently see that classes give you a way to learn in a different setting as well as a wellness community to lean on.

Supporting Positive Postural Changes
I came across this article from Livestrong the other day and was excited to see how much it aligned with what we do in our Loo Movement practice! I love it when established health and wellness publications highlight the value of postural and alignment health. I recommend checking out the whole article here to learn all the ways they recommend slowing down age-related postural changes, but if you are short on time, I’ve summarized the key points below!

Happy Birthday To Loo Movement!
This February Loo Movement Core & Mobility Class turned one year old! A year ago, back in 2023, I created the class you know and love at a different studio under the name “Guided Embodiment”. Over the years, it took on many names, "Mobility Awareness", “Active Recovery”, "Loo Movement Yoga”, "Loo Movement Pilates”, and “Loo Movement Physical Therapy”.

Celebrations of The Year!
Hello friends,
As we’re nearing the end of the year, I’ve been reflecting on all the amazing work that you have all done this year. With the proactive rehab mindset of Loo Movement, you get back what you put in and I feel inspired and proud of seeing you all learn, progress, and build on your body awareness skills. Clients come to me with all types of goals or something they’d like to work on, whether it’s to get stronger, more flexible, or improve alignment so they have less pain. I’d like to share a few stories of two specific clients to inspire us all!

Balancing Your Left and Right Sides
Hi Friends, More and more people have been coming out to see me for 1:1 Loo Movement and Pilates sessions, which has been fabulous! Recently, I saw one of my clients, Amy, who is super active and likes to hike, run, and play golf. She had been having some right hip pain, so we used the Pilates equipment to help her find more length and balance between her two sides. I added some specific alignment corrections involving her hips and trunk, which improved her pelvic and spinal stability. Amy’s hip pain has diminished significantly and she is able to keep enjoying the activities she loves, yay!
