How to unlock your body’s secrets 👀

Hi Friends,

I came across this article from Total Somatics that put words to where my intuition often brings me. Anyone who has worked with me, whether 1:1 or in class, knows that we begin by dropping into a state of “Embodied Awareness”-- tuned-in, present, and grounded. If you have experience with meditation, yoga, Qigong/tai chi, or are a longtime Loo Movement student, then you are familiar with this state of consciousness and already know how to access it. Our busy modern culture can make it difficult for us (myself included) to pay attention to our bodies. While it may feel subtle, this preparatory mind-body step is one of the most essential parts of The Loo Movement Method. Why? Well, it allows us to sense and feel more, and slow down enough to better listen to our bodies.

Sensing and feeling is a skill. With Loo Movement, we learn somatically, to become more aware of the early signs of what feels good for our body, and what doesn’t, BEFORE our injuries debilitate us. Our bodies communicate with us through sensory clues of pain, restriction, compression, etc, but our minds can get in the way.

Honoring your awareness of your body's clues is a gift you can give your future self. I agree that, “there is nothing more empowering than understanding how your soma truly ‘ticks’ and knowing what you can do to recalibrate or re-centre yourself after an intense or stressful day, week, month or period of time.” So, the next time you find yourself in need of some support, lean into your Loo Movement practice to come back into better body alignment, which will help you prevent injury, improve your posture, and feel great.

Sunday’s Core & Mobility class is a great place to come deepen this practice with me, in a group setting. Holding the space for Embodied Awareness can be hard to do alone. So I’ve created group offerings for you to show up and experience this focused frequency with kindred spirits, led by me. We learn from each other, and Loo Movement is a practice. Once you learn to embody this practice, it will become intuitive, and integrate more seamlessly into your life.

If you need more in-depth, detailed alignment corrections for your unique patterns, I am also here to help you in 1:1 sessions. In addition, I’ll be offering a 2-part workshop series in November, for Ankle/Foot and Knee Health, so stay tuned! Dates will be announced in the next newsletter.

I hope to see you soon!
